Program Description

Event Details

With original photographs, vintage images, and patriotic music, Kevin Woyce explores the history of the American Flag - from its origin in the Revolution to the addition of our 50th star in 1960.

He also explains how a poem about the 1814 Battle of Baltimore - set to a popular English melody - became our national anthem.

Presented by:  Kevin Woyce is a lifetime resident of the Garden State. His first book, published back in 2007, was Jersey Shore Facts & Photos. Revised and updated twice, it's now called Jersey Shore History & Facts. He has since written about lighthouses, New Jersey State Parks, Niagara Falls, the Statue of Liberty, and favorite Christmas traditions. All of these books are illustrated with his original black & white photographs, plus some vintage images. Kevin began lecturing on regional history in 2008 and built his first slideshows two years later. Learn more by visiting:  www.kevinwoyce.com
