Event Details

Kids raced home after school in the 1950s to watch Philadelphia teenagers dance on American Bandstand. Celebrity couples Kenny & Arlene and Bob & Justine would receive bags of fan mail and appeared on the cover of Sixteen Magazine. Host Dick Clark projected a boyish, clean-cut image and enforced the dress code. Features live Bandstand performances of At the Hop with Danny and the Juniors, Beyond the Sea by Bobby Darin, Rebel Rouser by Duane Eddy, De De Dinah by Frankie Avalon, Put Your Head on My Shoulder by Paul Anka, and more.

Note: this is the Part 2 sequel to Dick Clark’s American Bandstand – Philadelphia.

Presenter: Rick Feingold worked as the marketing director at the Center for the Performing Arts at Penn State University. He teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College.  He holds an MBA from Penn State University and a B.A. in History from Rutgers University.
